I know from personal experience that anxiety can impact everyone in different ways from constantly worrying about an upcoming deadline, feeling on edge and fearful of being close to a spider to dreading a social event or work for the fear of saying the wrong thing. This fear can dominate a lot of our headspace which means that we miss things. We miss promotions at work, we miss making new friends at social events or miss enjoyable and fun moments - as these are often the first things to go when anxiety hits.

Signs of anxiety

  • Constantly overthinking

  • Feeling on edge and worrying

  • Not being able to relax

  • Going red, hot or feeling tense

  • Phobias and Fears

  • Elevated heart rate and sweaty palms

  • Sense that something bad will happen

  • Trouble concentrating or thinking properly

  • Stuttering or shaking

So whether you are impacted by talking in front of large groups, seeing a spider, having a deadline at work, going on a first date or getting on a bus - the good news is that life doesn’t have to be this way. The anxiety is there for a reason and once we discover what that reason is then amazing change can happen.

Historically our main aim as human beings is to survive, which is why we have the fight, flight or freeze response built into our very clever bodys to help us stay safe so we can be warned if we are in danger, such as being chased by a saber tooth tiger or invaded by another tribe. Yet these risks are not so preventative in our day to day lives, so our modern saber tooth tigers come in the form of a deadline at work or a missed call from your ex partner. One small thing can activate our entire nervous system response, dropping adrenaline and cortisol into our bodies so we have the energy to fight or run away. Through the power of working with the subconscious mind, we can begin to understand why the response is there in the first place and reframe the things that we don’t actually need to be fearful of.

Your fear around speaking in public may have started when you read out in class, made a mistake and everyone laughed at you, so the subconscious mind learned that speaking in a group is not safe. Or your anxiety around conflict may come from growing up in a household where your parents argued a lot, so your subconscious mind learned that angring is not safe. Possibly your constant worry and nervousness started when you had your GCSE’s and there was a lot of pressure on you to succeed, which created the link that external pressure is not safe.

Everything comes from somewhere. How we are, the way we think, behave, react, is not a coincidence. It is a carefully selected collection of ideas, fear, dreams, memories, aimed at keeping us safe.

This always inspired me because it highlights that there is an answer, a way out, a solution to your anxiety. I believe that we already have all the answers we need within us, deep within the subconscious mind. It is there waiting to help us move forward with our lives and our job is to be brave, drive in and discover these old parts of ourselves and find out what they need.

You might be surprised at what gifts, resources and wisdom you already have within you that can help you understand why it is where, let it go and move forward in a positive direction, and all we need to do is find that missing piece of the puzzle, that deeply buried memory which is creating this reaction. Once you discover and work on the root cause, you will be amazed at how much easier each day can be, how much more you can enjoy yourself, smile, laugh and have fun again.

Would you like to be free from fear and anxiety? Would you like to be more confident, happier within yourself, more easily able to relax and enjoy yourself?

Imagine how different life would be if you could feel more in control of yourself, your thoughts and feeling, be able to remain relaxed and calm in groups, at social events and at the office, be able to enjoy things more, laugh more, have more fun, feel happy and content - wouldn’t take be nice? Fortunately we do not need to be dominated by our anxiety any longer than we want to. Having been someone who used to experience daily panic attacks and now l can go for weeks without a hint of anxiety - can’t tell you how much more enjoyable life can be and how powerful this work is.

How can Cognitive Hypnotherapy help me?

Cognitive Hypnotherapy is an evidence based, modern therapeutic technique which is both problem focused and solution focused. We work directly on the root connected to your anxiety or fear and also get clear on how you would like to feel and be different. Evidence shows that Cognitive Hypnotherapy is 71% effective for the treatment of anxiety and depression compared with other talking therapies (such as CBT) which are only 42%. Cognitive Hypnotherapy works directly on the root that is causing all this fuss and reframes it in a way so that your thoughts, feelings and reactions start to follow suit in a safe and supportive way. Each session is tailored to you and what you need that day as we are all unique and how we do our anxiety is completely personal to us.

What will my first session be like?

The first session is an initial consultation where we can discover together the root cause connected to what you want to work on in a safe and supportive environment. This is where you may uncover moments from your past that you had forgotten about until now. We will also discuss what you would like to achieve from our sessions and how you would like to be different. Everyone is unique and the length of time l work with my clients varies but the average is 4 - 6 sessions to get the results that you want. Each session costs £70.00 each and last between 60 - 75 minutes. By taking you on as a client, l make a promise to support you as best l can with easing your anxiety, understanding it’s root cause and yourself better, feeling more in control of yourself and getting you to a place you have always wanted to be.

Where are you based and how do l book on?

I am based in 5 College Fields in Clifton, BS83HP, opening on to a beautiful garden and there is lots of available parking outside. The clinic has a COVID Protocol as our first priority is to keep you safe, you can learn more about this on my website. To book on all you need to do is email me and l will get back to you with a selection of my next available slots.

What will l gain from this work?

As everyone is unique, what we gain from the work is specific to each person, but here are some examples of what my clients have reported back to me at the end of our time together.
