Confidence is something that impacts our day to day lives in ways we maybe wouldn’t think of. Confidence can be the difference between going for that promotion or staying in whatever is easy and comfortable, asking someone out on a date or having a friday night alone. No one is either confident or not confident but more that we have confidence in certain areas, you may be confident at work but struggle with dating, or you might be confident in your intelligence knowledge but not in the way you look on the beach. Having self awareness of those areas of confidence can be an amazing place to start and hypnotherapy is an amazing tools for this.

Signs of low confidence:

  • Isolating yourself from life and feeling stuck.

Having had many year of doubting myself, not trusting myself, comparing myself to others and being fearful of making mistakes, l decided to do something different because what l was doing clearly wasn't working. I started working with a Cognitive Hypnotherapist in Bristol and l could not believe how different l felt in the space of a few weeks! I was experiencing confidence, self trust and freedom in a way that l had never before, almost like a light switch has gone on and l could live my life from my most authentic, most confident and free self. This superpower upgrade was fun but the old self doubt started to creep back in and l realised that self confidence and self empowerment is something we need to continually work on, we cannot expect to do 3 therapy sessions, read one self help book and be done for the next 30 years, it is a process. As we grow in confidence, we push ourselves out of our comfort zones, we take more risks, we do things that previously we thought we couldn’t, but with growth comes new levels of fear or self doubt, which we then have to work through. The great thing is that the more you do the work, the more self awareness you have, the more easily and quickly we can work through any new blocks that come our way.

I know l can achieve amazing things, l know l can have the life l dream of, l know all of my gifts but l sometimes forget, sometimes l need to be reminded, sometimes to reremember my greatest. 

This is the same for all of us. The only consistency in life is change so when you feel low, anxious, depressed and disconnected, know that will change, just as much as when you are feeling confident, open, empowered and strong, know that this will change too. How we adjust to these changes and how quickly we can bring ourselves back to confidence and empowerment in the trick. This happens through a combination of self reflection, self care, hypnotherapy for confidence to reframe past experiences, more self awareness and self acceptance and compassion. 

The rereremembering ourselves is so key because, our fears and doubts are hardwired. Our unconscious mind dictates 90% of our thoughts, feelings, beliefs and reactions and it is always primed to keep you safe so it will remember any moment in your past where you weren’t safe, where you felt fear, where you felt self doubt, and almost scans each moment on our current lives to see if those old threats are there.

Reframing these past experiences and reframing our beliefs about ourselves and the world, are the key that makes long and lasting change possible. 

You can read many self help books, remind yourself to stand up straight, smile, read positive affirmations, and all of these things can help, but to make a real difference, you need to reframe these past experiences and limiting beliefs, rewire your unconscious conditioning and give your unconscious mind a new script to run, a script that you decide. One of confidence, calm and empowerment. You will be amazing at how different life can be.

What does true self confidence look like? I could write a list of all the ways l perceive confidence looks but l want to ask you. For someone confidence looks like going out and wearing leopard print leggings but for someone else it could be singing at an open mic, only you know what true confidence looks and feels like for you. 

  • If you were truly confident, how would you know this was true?

  • What would you be doing differently?

  • How would your life be different?

  • What would you let go of?

  • If you were someone who lived their lives from a place of security and confidence, what would you believe about yourself?

People often confuse those that are extroverted, opinionated, expressive and hard working as the most confident but sometimes this couldn’t be further from the truth. Quiet confidence is something not to be sneered at as it is deep and grounded, where someone is rooted to themselves, they have spent time tending to their own needs, watering their own garden so they are rooted to the essence of who they are.
